With so much success in the year 2024, a lot of us are betting on Onesimus’s possible Grammy nomination on his song “Controller” that was submitted for 67th Grammy consideration. Recently his manager Tonderai Banda took to social media expressing his optimism. Seems Banda is of the idea that might not be today or Tomorrow but Onesimus will make us proud.
The question that many are forced to reconsider is whether Onesimus has the capacity to bring such a prestigious Trophy home. In his Facebook article that leads “The Grammy Dream That Could Change Malawi Music Landscape Forever” Tonderai is staging his artist as probably the most outstanding contender in the race. But you don’t also have to forget that The Nyau King Taygrin has been on the race since 2024. Maybe he is also the artist who made this dream alive to so many artists. We all know Dr Namadingo had his dream all set but taking this bold step towards achieving the goal, he did not.
Meanwhile further in his statement, Tonderai highlighted that Onesimus is solely focused at hitting the ultimate goal, which is The Grammy. The artist submitted his song “Controller” under the “Best African Music Performance” category.
Recently, we saw him bringing home “The Best Male Artist” award. from Tanzani’s “HAPA Awards” where he was competing with some top names in Africa, among those are Harmonize, Marioo, Khaid, Rayvanny and Kcee. Onesimus’s “Controller” has managed to hit 4.6 Million YouTube views in a period of 5 months.
The song has also managed to pull Nigeria’s Joeboy on a remix. To which video shoot is underway in Nigeria. Despite all the registered achievements in a period of less than 8 months 2024, the question still remains, will Onesimus bring a Grammy home?
