The Zikwanje boys are being accused of threatening human rights. This notorious boys club prevented citizens who tried to protests against the former MCP led government by beating them up. They’re also accused of targeting leaders of opposition parties which threatened lives of many under the leadership of former president Dr Lazarus Chakwera.
Meanwhile The United Kingdom has come forward to accuse Malawian authorities of human rights abuses, citing attacks by ‘zikwanje boys’ on protesters and the failure of security forces to intervene.
The allegations were made by the UK’s UN Human Rights Ambassador, Eleanor Sanders, during a UN review in Geneva.
On the Other Hand 17 of these boys are now in Police Custody waiting to appear before court.
The arrested 17 people are suspected to have hacked civil rights activist Silvester Namiwa, theft, robbery, deflating tires of vehicles for members of Parliament at Parliament, causing mayhem at Mbowe, among a litany of criminal activities.
