Renowned legal expert Khumbo Bonzoe Soko has issued a strong warning to individuals using social media to tarnish the reputations of newly appointed officials in various government institutions.

Among those targeted by the defamatory posts are two notable figures. Attorney General Frank Mbeta is one of them. He’s described as a young and accomplished legal mind. Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman is another target. He’s known as a versatile and seasoned lawmaker in Malawi’s political landscape.

The warning comes amid a surge of defamatory posts on social media platforms. Facebook, in particular, has seen a flood of such content targeting innocent Malawians.

These Malawians have recently earned well-deserved appointments to influential positions in government. Their achievements have been recognized through these appointments.

Khumbo Bonzoe Soko’s warning aims to caution social media users against spreading harmful content about these and other newly appointed officials.

Soko’s statement highlights the need for responsible social media use, emphasizing that smear campaigns can have severe consequences, including damage to reputation and mental health.
