The entertainment industry comes with a bang in November 2025 as people in Lilongwe and the surrounding areas are expected to be treated with some mount cracking skits from Malawi’s all-time great comedian’s Izeki ndi Jakobo.
After the passing of John Nyanga and Patrick Mabedi in 2016 and 2021 respectively, Malawi has ever since not had great actors of their calibre in as far as stage performance is concerned.
The history of this duo Izeki ndi Jakobo dates back from their days in the Kwathu drama group where they starred in a number of plays together. But after years of their nonexistence, (may their souls continue resting in peace), people seemed to have started to forget these icons in the entertainment industry and that’s where the idea to have a memorial show to honour them was born.

Speaking to 265 Ent Mag Tv, one of the organisers for the show Maziko Mabedi who is also son to the late Patrick Mabedi said that their dream is to revive the Izeki ndi Jakobo brand.
“Our dream is to revive the Izeki ndi Jakobo brand because we want to show Malawians that yes of course they are resting in peace but their comedy and the ideologies still leaves on and that we can still learn lessons and laugh together,” He said.
Mabedi has confirmed that all the preparations for show are going on well and that they are planning to have some other activities to spice up the event. The activities will include some live music performances, cultural dance and also some other comedians will be given a chance to showcase their talent.
He continued to say that there is a plan to make this memorial show an annual event and spread it to different places across the country so that many people could be able to attend the shows.
