Malawi’s fastest rising female singer ‘Emmie Deebo” has expressed excitement on her attendance for the 2nd Zanzibar International Youth Tourism Summit (ZIYTS). The event was organised by Zanzibar Vacations (Zanvacay) with support from the Zanzibar Ministry of Tourism and Fisheries and African Tourism Board.
The event ran for 4 days and the Guests of Honour were the Zanzibar Minister of Tourism, Hon Shaaban Ali and the Executive Director of Zanzibar Economic Empowerment Agency (ZEEA) Hon Juma Burhan.
According to Emmie Deebo she was only invited to perform as a singer at the event but luckily enough she ended up participating in the whole event. Where
the sessions took place at 3 venues, the Golden Tulip Hotel (Conference), Michezani Mall (Karaoke Night) and Mtoni Palace Ruins (Awards Night).
The event attracted youth representatives from different African Countries. According to Emmie Deebo, this event has been an eye opener, she say it has been an opportunity for networking and learning knew knowledge.
The “HAPA” hit singer performed to a group of delegates representing different African countries saying she enjoyed the performances. Where she planned to perform only one song, but due to their demand, she hopped to giving out the whole her catalogue. She describes the experience as fun.
Meanwhile the artist also was recognized and awarded as the Rising Star (Southern Africa), an award presented by the Executive Director of Zanzibar Economic Empowerment Agency. This is her first international award.
